Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) aerial parts, Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) leaf, Elder (Sambucus canadensis or S. nigra) flower, Elder (Sambucus canadensis or S. nigra) berry, Echinacea (Echinacea spp.) root, Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root, Rose (Rosa spp.) hips, Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) root

Combine the lemon balm, elderflower, and peppermint in a 1-quart heat-safe glass jar; set aside. Combine all other herbs (elderberry, echinacea, licorice, rose hips, and astragalus) in a pot. Add 1 quart of water; simmer for 15-20 minutes. Pour the decoction, herbs and all into the glass jar. All herbs are combined at this point. Steep covered for 30 minutes. Strain into a clean beverage container.

Suggested dose: Adults can drink 1-2 cups/day for immune health maintenance, or up to 4 cups/day at the first sign of illness.

*Note ~ It’s important to not lift the lid of the pot too often while boiling. Many herbs contain aromatic oils that can escape if they are boiled in an open pot. If the tea is overcooked or burned, discard the herbs. Never add water to cook again.
